At the time, Chantale was pregnant with her daughter. She had asked me before the pandemic to photograph her and then we went on lockdown… but we had technology and it saved the day! To direct her, I would strip down and show shapes and forms. In the end, we were both practically naked. It was a beautiful experience. I love these images so much and am humbled by her trust.

Not too long before we created this body of work, EK transitioned and what can I say? I am so happy for her to live in the body, she feels herself in! Hence, we created these images and I so love and appreciate her beauty.

In the context of an essay, I wrote on trust and betrayal, I captured these images. At the time, I was quite hurt and while writing, it felt cathartic to work in this kind of way. Although, time has gone by and the wounds have healed, there is a vulnerability in these images, I identify with.
